To cancel a Twitch channel subscription, go to Subscriptions in your Twitch account on the web, click the cog next to the channel, and select Don't Renew Subscription. That handles the most common case, a recurring monthly sub to one streamer. Twitch Turbo and any sub you bought inside the iOS or Android app cancel in a different place, and a Prime Gaming sub never auto-charges, so there's nothing to cancel there.
Three separate Twitch charges get mistaken for each other. Work out which one is hitting your statement first:
- A channel subscription. A recurring payment (monthly, or every 3 or 6 months) to a specific streamer. Cancel it in your Twitch Subscriptions settings, below.
- Twitch Turbo. $11.99 USD/month for ad-free viewing across every channel. Separate cancel path.
- A Prime Gaming sub. The free channel sub included with Amazon Prime. It doesn't renew or charge you, so there's nothing to stop (see below).
If you subscribed through the Twitch iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google bills you, and you cancel through them rather than Twitch.
Cancel a channel subscription (desktop)
- Go to twitch.tv/subscriptions and log in
- Find the channel you want to unsubscribe from
- Click the cog icon next to it
- Select Don't Renew Subscription
- Pick any reason when prompted, then click Don't Renew Subscription a second time to confirm
The second click is the one that counts. If you only click once, the sub is still active. When it works, the channel shows a Sub End Date instead of a renewal date. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid the next charge.
You keep the sub badge, emotes, and ad-free viewing on that channel until the end of your current billing period.
Cancel on mobile
- Open the Twitch app and tap your profile picture (top left)
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find the channel and tap Cancel Subscription
Important: you need to cancel from the same platform you subscribed on. If you subbed on desktop, cancel on desktop. If you subbed through the iOS or Android app, cancel through that app (or through Apple/Google's subscription settings).
Cancel if you subscribed through Apple or Google
If you subscribed via the Twitch iOS app, your billing goes through Apple:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > find the Twitch sub > Cancel
If you subscribed via the Android app:
- Google Play: Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > find Twitch > Cancel
The Twitch app can't cancel subscriptions billed through Apple or Google. You have to go through the platform's subscription settings.
Cancel Twitch Turbo
Turbo is separate from channel subscriptions. It costs $11.99 USD/month (no AUD pricing, so your bank's exchange rate applies) and gives you ad-free viewing across all channels.
- Go to twitch.tv/turbo
- Click Manage Subscription (or find it in your Subscription settings)
- Click Don't Renew
Turbo rose from $8.99 to $11.99 USD/month in the 2024 price hike. If you bought Turbo through the mobile app, cancel it through Apple or Google the same way you would a channel sub. Turbo works like YouTube Premium's ad-free tier, one flat monthly fee to strip ads platform-wide.
For channel subs: you keep emotes, the sub badge, and ad-free viewing on that channel until the billing period ends. After that, you revert to a regular viewer. Your chat history and follows are unaffected.
For Turbo: ads return across all channels at the end of your billing period. Extended VOD storage (60 days) drops back to the standard 14 days.
If you sub to more than one streamer, they bill on staggered dates and hide easily. A subscription tracker built for Australian bank statements reads a single upload and lists every recurring charge, Twitch and everything else, so you can see the full monthly total in one place.
Gifted subs and Prime subs
Gifted subs expire on their own. If someone gifted you a sub, there's nothing to cancel. It just ends when the gifted period runs out.
Prime Gaming subs (included with Amazon Prime) need to be manually re-applied each month. They don't auto-renew, so there's no cancellation needed. If you want to stop subscribing to a channel via Prime, just don't resubscribe next month.
Channel sub pricing (AUD)
Channel subscriptions in Australia cost:
- Tier 1: $8.99 AUD/month
- Tier 2: $14.99 AUD/month
- Tier 3: $34.99 AUD/month
Most people are on Tier 1. Subs to several channels add up fast. Three Tier 1 subs is $27/month, and they each bill on their own date, so they rarely show up together on a statement. The same blind spot hits stacked gaming subscriptions like Discord Nitro and PlayStation Plus, which auto-renew quietly in the background.
Twitch subs are easy to forget about, especially when you've moved on from a streamer. What other subscriptions are running on autopilot?
Most people find 3-5 subscriptions they forgot about when they actually look. Upload a bank statement to Subtracker and see every recurring charge in under two minutes. No bank login. No manual entry. $19 once.
