Twitch has two kinds of subscriptions that can trip people up: channel subscriptions (supporting individual streamers) and Twitch Turbo (ad-free viewing platform-wide). You might need to cancel one, or both.
Cancel a channel subscription (desktop)
- Go to twitch.tv and log in
- Click your profile icon (top right) and select Subscriptions
- Find the channel you want to unsubscribe from
- Click the cog icon next to it
- Select Don't Renew Subscription
- Confirm
You keep the sub badge, emotes, and ad-free viewing on that channel until the end of your current billing period.
Cancel on mobile
- Open the Twitch app and tap your profile picture (top left)
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find the channel and tap Cancel Subscription
Important: you need to cancel from the same platform you subscribed on. If you subbed on desktop, cancel on desktop. If you subbed through the iOS or Android app, cancel through that app (or through Apple/Google's subscription settings).
Cancel if you subscribed through Apple or Google
If you subscribed via the Twitch iOS app, your billing goes through Apple:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > find the Twitch sub > Cancel
If you subscribed via the Android app:
- Google Play: Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > find Twitch > Cancel
The Twitch app can't cancel subscriptions billed through Apple or Google. You have to go through the platform's subscription settings.
Cancel Twitch Turbo
Turbo is separate from channel subscriptions. It costs $11.99 USD/month (no AUD pricing, so your bank's exchange rate applies) and gives you ad-free viewing across all channels.
- Go to twitch.tv/turbo
- Click Manage Subscription (or find it in your Subscription settings)
- Click Don't Renew
Turbo used to be $8.99/month before the 2025 price hike.
For channel subs: you keep emotes, the sub badge, and ad-free viewing on that channel until the billing period ends. After that, you revert to a regular viewer. Your chat history and follows are unaffected.
For Turbo: ads return across all channels at the end of your billing period. Extended VOD storage (60 days) drops back to the standard 14 days.
Gifted subs and Prime subs
Gifted subs expire on their own. If someone gifted you a sub, there's nothing to cancel. It just ends when the gifted period runs out.
Prime Gaming subs (included with Amazon Prime) need to be manually re-applied each month. They don't auto-renew, so there's no cancellation needed. If you want to stop subscribing to a channel via Prime, just don't resubscribe next month.
Channel sub pricing (AUD)
Channel subscriptions in Australia cost:
- Tier 1: $8.99 AUD/month
- Tier 2: $14.99 AUD/month
- Tier 3: $34.99 AUD/month
Most people are on Tier 1. If you're subbed to multiple channels, the costs add up quickly. Three Tier 1 subs is $27/month.
Twitch subs are easy to forget about, especially when you've moved on from a streamer. What other subscriptions are running on autopilot?
Most people find 3-5 subscriptions they forgot about when they actually look. Upload a bank statement to Subtracker and see every recurring charge in 2 minutes. No bank login. No manual entry. $12.99 once.
