In most Australian banking apps you open the account and tap Statements (CommBank and ING put it under Manage, BOQ and ANZ Plus under your profile), then pick a statement period and download or share the PDF. CommBank, Westpac and NAB keep seven years online. A CSV of your transactions usually comes from online banking in a browser, through an Export or Download button on the transaction list. Every step below comes from the bank's own help page, checked on 23 September 2026.

"Not stated" means the bank's help page doesn't say; "not confirmed" means we couldn't find the step on the bank's own site.

To see which subscriptions are on the statement, run a free scan: upload a PDF or CSV covering two or three months and SubTracker lists the recurring charges, with no bank login.

Step by step, bank by bank

CommBank

In the CommBank app, tap Accounts, choose the account, tap Manage, then View statement (the app may ask for your CommBank app PIN). Choose the statement date and tap Download.

In NetBank, choose View accounts, then Statements, and select the account. Select one or more statements and click Download. The same screen creates a transaction summary for a date range you choose.

For a CSV, open the account in NetBank and click Export (use Advanced search first to set a date range), choose the format and click Export transactions. NetBank exports up to 600 transactions at a time. Online statements go back seven years.

ANZ

In the ANZ App, select the account and tap Statements or Notices, open a statement, then tap the share icon at the top right to download it. For a closed account, tap More, then View statements.

In Internet Banking, select the account and click View statements on the left, choose the account from the list and click Download.

For other dates, ANZ creates a Transaction Report for the last 30, 60, 90 or 120 days: select the account, open the Statements tab (View statements in Internet Banking) and select Get a Transaction Report. For a CSV, open the account in Internet Banking, click Download at the top of the Transactions tab and pick the time period and a software format. The export covers the last two years, on open accounts only.

ANZ Plus

ANZ Plus is a separate app. Tap the Profile icon, then Statements. Statements arrive monthly for Everyday, Growth Saver and Flex Saver accounts.

Westpac

In the Westpac App, search Statements in the Smart Search bar, tap Statements (incl. closed accounts), select the account under Active accounts, tap the statement period, then tap the share icon to download or send it.

In Online Banking, go to Overview and then Statements, select the account, enter a date range or pick a preset, select Search, then Download PDF.

For a CSV, go to Overview, select Exports and reports, then Export in the Transactions section, and choose the date range, accounts and file format (CSV, QBO, QIF or OFX). Westpac's page for this is written for business customers and says personal customers follow the same steps. Statements go back seven years.

NAB

In the NAB app, tap the account, then Statements, tap the statement date, tap Ok on the security message, then tap Share to download it. The app holds two years of statements.

In NAB Internet Banking, open Accounts and choose Account statements, pick the account and a date range, select Search, then select up to 25 statements and Download. Internet Banking holds seven years.

For a spreadsheet, open Accounts, select Transaction history, filter to the account and dates you want, then select Export and choose spreadsheet, QIF or PDF. Transaction history goes back two years (731 days).

ING

In the ING app, select the account, tap Manage, then Statements, pick the period and download the PDF. Interim statement covers everything since your last one.

In Online Banking, select Statements, then View statements from the menu, choose the account and period, and click Find to download the PDF. ING's Online Banking page says you can export your transaction history from the account screen; its help pages don't name the file format.

Macquarie

In the Macquarie app, select the account, tap I want to, then View account statements, and select the statement to download. In Online Banking, hover over the account, select I want to, then View account statements and reports. Macquarie shows two to ten years of statements depending on the account type.

For a CSV, search your transactions in Online Banking and click the download arrow to save the results as CSV or QIF. Only the transactions showing on screen are included, so scroll down to load more before you download.

Bendigo Bank

In the Bendigo Bank app or e-banking, select the account on the Accounts screen, select the Statements tab, then select a statement. A PDF copy downloads. Statements for open accounts stay in e-banking for seven years.

For a CSV, select the account and choose Download at the top of the Activity tab (or the settings icon, then Download Transactions) and pick CSV Standard Format. Downloads cover the past 18 months.

Up

In the Up app, open the Up tab and tap Statements, which holds your monthly statements and proof of balance.

For a CSV, go to your Activity feed, tap Insights above the month header, scroll to the bottom and tap Export transactions. Check the selected period first with the Switch button at the top right. Up describes this on its blog rather than in its help centre.

ubank

In the ubank app, open your Spend, Bills or Save account, tap the Settings icon at the top right, select Statements and choose one. ubank lets you download the statement as a CSV or a PDF.

St.George, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne

In the St.George App, select the account, then Statements. In Internet Banking, select the account, then View eStatements. BankSA and Bank of Melbourne publish the same Internet Banking steps. St.George and Bank of Melbourne keep up to seven years of statements.

For a set date range, create a transaction listing report: in Internet Banking select Manage my accounts, then under Statements & balances select Transaction listing, choose the account and time frame (30, 90 or 120 days, or custom) and Create report. It comes as a PDF on St.George letterhead.

Bankwest

In Bankwest Online Banking, select Accounts, then Statements, choose the account and select a statement to download the PDF. Bankwest publishes these steps on its home loan page; we couldn't find a Bankwest help page with the app steps for an everyday account or a CSV export.

Suncorp Bank

In the Suncorp Bank App, select an account from the Accounts screen and tap eStatements. In Internet Banking, click eStatements in the left-hand menu. Both go back to statements issued since 1 July 2013; for older ones, send Suncorp a secure message.

BOQ

In the myBOQ app, tap the Profile icon, then Statement and documents, choose the account and statement, and tap the share icon at the top right. In Internet Banking, select Statements, pick the account from the drop-down and select View or Download. BOQ keeps at least seven years. Credit card statements sit under the Q Rewards / Other Cards link in Internet Banking.

Great Southern Bank

In Online Banking, go to Accounts in the left-hand menu and click eStatements, set the date range, click Show eStatements, then click view next to a statement to open the PDF. Statements go back seven years.

American Express

In the Amex App, go to Statements and Activity, select See All next to Recent Statements, choose a statement and select Download Statement. The app shows the past six monthly statements as PDFs.

If you need a statement as proof of income or for a rental

Send the bank's statement PDF, which carries the account details and statement period that a screenshot of the transaction list leaves out. Cover the whole period you're asked for, and every account your pay goes into.

When the dates you need don't line up with your statement periods, these banks create a report for a range you choose:

  • CommBank: a transaction summary from the Statements screen in NetBank. NetBank also downloads a balance confirmation and an account confirmation.
  • Westpac: a Transactions Report (search Transactions Report in the app) for the last 30, 90 or 120 days, since your last statement, or a custom range up to 12 months, plus a Proof of Balance report.
  • ANZ: a Transaction Report for the last 30, 60, 90 or 120 days.
  • St.George: a transaction listing report and a proof of balance, both PDFs on St.George letterhead.
  • ING: an interim statement from your last statement to today.

Which file to use for a subscription scan

A PDF statement or a CSV export covering two or three months works best, because a monthly subscription appears at least twice in that window. With monthly statements, download the last two or three. Some accounts get statements quarterly or half-yearly (ANZ lists both), and one of those covers the period on its own. A CSV export lets you pick the exact dates instead.

SubTracker reads PDF, CSV and Excel exports from any Australian bank. The statement file is deleted when the scan finishes, and results are deleted after 24 hours unless you save them. The guide to finding hidden subscriptions covers what to look for once you have the list.

Common questions

Can I get a statement for a closed account?

Usually, if you had online statements before it closed. CommBank shows statements for up to two years after you close an account; Westpac and NAB keep closed-account statements for seven years in online banking; ANZ lists closed accounts at the bottom of the View statements list. Macquarie asks you to contact it through live chat and may charge a fee.

Can I download a statement from the app, or do I need a computer?

Every bank above except Great Southern Bank and Bankwest documents a statement download in its app. CSV exports mostly need online banking in a browser; ubank and Up export from the app.
