Stan is one of the easier streaming services to cancel in Australia. No phone calls, no chat agents, no 30-day notice period. The whole thing takes about 60 seconds through your browser.
Steps to cancel Stan
You need to do this on a desktop browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox on a Mac or PC). The mobile app doesn't have the cancellation option.
- Go to stan.com.au and sign in
- Hover over your profile icon in the top right corner
- Select Manage Account
- Scroll down to Subscription Information
- Click Cancel your subscription and follow the prompts
Your access continues until the end of your current billing period. No prorated refund.
Your account stays on file after cancelling. If you resubscribe later, your watchlist, profiles, and watch history will still be there. Stan has no lock-in contracts, so you can come and go as you like.
If you signed up through Apple
If you subscribed to Stan via your Apple TV or through iTunes, you can't cancel on the Stan website. You need to cancel through Apple instead:
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions
- Find Stan in the list and tap it
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Or on a Mac: open the App Store > click your name (bottom left) > Account Settings > Subscriptions > Manage next to Stan.

Stan Sport is an optional add-on for $15/mo on top of any plan.
If you're cancelling to save money but still want Stan, downgrading to Basic saves you $6-10/month. You keep the full content library, just at lower video quality.
Watch out for
After clicking cancel, Stan shows a retention screen offering a discounted rate or suggesting you downgrade. The Keep my subscription button is styled more prominently than the continue option. Just click past it. You won't lose access immediately either way.
Worth knowing
- No partial refunds. You keep access until the end of your billing cycle, but Stan won't refund unused days.
- Stan Sport cancels too. If you have the Stan Sport add-on, it cancels along with your main subscription.
- Free trials. Stan occasionally offers 30-day free trials for new or returning subscribers. If you cancel and wait, you might see one.
