ExpressVPN is one of the most expensive VPNs on the market. If you're on a monthly plan, you're paying around $20 AUD/month for the Basic tier alone. Annual and two-year plans bring the per-month cost down, but you're still locked in for the full billing period. Here's how to stop it renewing.
How to cancel (website)
- Go to expressvpn.com and sign in to your account
- Click Subscription in the left sidebar
- Under Subscription details, click Cancel Subscription
- Follow the prompts until you see confirmation that your subscription has been cancelled
This turns off auto-renewal. You keep access to ExpressVPN until the end of your current billing period.
Cancel if you subscribed through Apple
- Open Settings on your iPhone > tap your name > Subscriptions
- Find ExpressVPN > tap Cancel Subscription
If you subscribed through the App Store, the ExpressVPN website won't show a cancel option. You must cancel through Apple.
Cancel if you subscribed through Google Play
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
- Find ExpressVPN > tap Cancel subscription
Your VPN stays active until the end of the current billing cycle. After that, you lose access to all VPN servers. Your account remains intact, so you can resubscribe later without creating a new one.
Refund policy
ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all plans, but only for first-time subscribers. To get a refund, contact their support team via live chat or submit a request through your account page. Refunds are processed within 7 days to the original payment method.
If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, the 30-day guarantee does not apply. You'd need to request a refund through Apple instead.
