Cancel difficulty: Easy

You cannot cancel Disney+ from your TV, game console, or the mobile app. You need a web browser. This trips up a lot of people, so if you've been looking for a cancel button on your Samsung TV and can't find it, that's why.

Steps to cancel

  1. Open a browser (desktop or mobile) and go to disneyplus.com
  2. Sign in and click your Profile icon (top right)
  3. Select Account
  4. Under Subscription, click your Disney+ plan
  5. Click Cancel Subscription
  6. Disney will show you content highlights and possibly a discount offer (see below). Click through to confirm

If you don't see a Cancel button at all, you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, or Telstra. See the sections below.

After you cancel

Monthly subscribers keep access until the end of the current billing period. No refund for unused days. Annual subscribers keep access until the prepaid year ends, but Disney does not refund unused months. Your account stays intact. Deleting your account is a separate step (Account > Settings > Delete Account) and is permanent.

The retention discount trick

When you go through the cancellation flow, Disney may offer you a discount to stay. These offers are targeted (not everyone gets them), but Australian users on OzBargain have reported seeing:

  • $4.99/month for 3 months on the Standard plan
  • $11.99/month for 6 months on the Standard plan

If you're cancelling because of price rather than content, it's worth going through the cancel flow to see what comes up. Annual plan subscribers typically don't get an offer. Google Play subscribers are cancelled immediately with no retention screen.

Cancel if you subscribed through Apple

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your name > Subscriptions
  3. Find Disney+ and tap Cancel Subscription

You can also go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions on a Mac.

Cancel if you subscribed through Google Play

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
  3. Find Disney+ and tap Cancel subscription

Cancel if billed through Telstra

  1. Sign in to myoffers.telstra.com.au
  2. Find your Disney+ subscription
  3. Click Need to make changes? > Cancel Subscription > Confirm

Or use the My Telstra app: Services > Your subscriptions > Disney+ > Cancel.

One catch: if you had a Disney+ subscription before switching to Telstra billing, your original subscription may resume (billed by Disney directly) when you cancel the Telstra one. You'd need to cancel that separately at disneyplus.com.

Current pricing (AUD)

PlanMonthlyAnnualScreensQuality
Standard$15.99/mo$159.99/yr2HD
Premium$20.99/mo$209.99/yr44K HDR + Dolby Atmos

There is no ad-supported tier in Australia. The US has a cheaper plan with ads, but it hasn't launched here.

Disney+ has raised prices four times since launching at $8.99/month in 2019. Premium now costs more than double the launch price.

Extra household members can be added for $7.99/month.

What's included now

Since March 2025, all Australian Disney+ plans include an ESPN hub with live ESPN channels and 10,000+ hours of sports content. This was Disney's justification for the February 2025 price increase, though it's not much comfort if you don't watch sport.

The Australian Disney+ also includes Star content (general entertainment, equivalent to Hulu in the US). So you're getting Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, Star, and ESPN all under one subscription.

Worth knowing

  • Pause option. Monthly subscribers billed directly by Disney can pause instead of cancelling. Pausing takes effect at your next billing date. No charge during the pause, but no access either.
  • Annual plan lock-in. If you're on an annual plan and want out, you can cancel but won't get a refund for the remaining months. Consider timing your cancellation close to your renewal date.
  • No physical media. Disney stopped selling Blu-rays and DVDs in Australia. Streaming is the only legal way to access Disney content now.

That's Disney sorted. How many streaming services are you actually using each month?

Most people find 3-5 subscriptions they forgot about when they actually look. Upload a bank statement to Subtracker and see every recurring charge in 2 minutes. No bank login. No manual entry. $12.99 once.
