BritBox raised its price 40% in mid-2025 (from $9.99 to $13.99/month), which is probably why you're here. Cancelling is straightforward, but you need a desktop browser. The TV app and mobile app don't have a cancel option.
How to cancel
- Go to britbox.com/au on a desktop browser and sign in
- Hover over the profile icon (top right) and click My Account
- Scroll to Plan & Billing and click Cancel Subscription
- A pop-up gives you two options. Click I still want to cancel (not the bigger "Keep subscription" button)
- Select a cancellation reason (the Cancel button stays greyed out until you pick one)
- Click Cancel to confirm
BritBox greys out the final Cancel button until you select a reason for leaving. The "Keep subscription" button is styled more prominently than "I still want to cancel." Some subscribers also see a retention offer of $1/month for two months during the flow. Click through it if you want out.

Also works via account.apple.com > Subscriptions.
Cancel if you subscribed through Google Play

Cancel if you subscribed through Amazon Prime Video
- Log into your Amazon account
- Go to Account & Lists > Memberships & Subscriptions
- Find BritBox under Prime Video Channels
- Select Unsubscribe and confirm
BritBox cannot cancel any third-party subscription for you. Their help centre explicitly says "Can you cancel for me? No."
Access continues until the end of your billing period. No partial refund. Your account and watch history are kept, so if you resubscribe later, everything picks up where you left off.
Current pricing (AUD)
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Monthly | $13.99/mo |
| Annual | $139.99/yr (~$11.67/mo) |
BritBox runs promotional sales roughly twice a year (October and January) where the annual plan drops to around $75 ($6.25/month). If you're on the fence, cancelling now and resubscribing during a sale is a common strategy.
The "too expensive" trick
Multiple users on Reddit report that selecting "too expensive" as your cancellation reason triggers promotional discount emails from BritBox after you cancel (e.g., $9.99 for 3 months). This isn't guaranteed, but it's a well-documented pattern. If you'd stay at a lower price, it's worth trying.
