Bank Apps That Find Your Subscriptions (2026): CommBank, Westpac, NAB, ANZ and More

Two Australian bank apps have a subscriptions screen. Westpac finds recurring payments on your Westpac debit and credit cards and cancels eligible subscriptions for you. Bankwest's Subscriptions Manager lists subscriptions paid from your Bankwest accounts and sends you to the merchant to cancel. NAB, CommBank and Up predict upcoming bills from your transactions, ANZ lists merchants that hold your Visa card details, and St.George lists 13 months of direct debits and recurring card payments. ING's and Macquarie's help pages describe no such feature. Each app sees only its own bank's accounts.

Apart from Westpac, every bank here tells you to cancel a recurring card payment with the merchant. Westpac, Bankwest, NAB, CommBank, ANZ, St.George, ING and Macquarie let you cancel a PayTo agreement yourself in the app or online banking.

Three kinds of recurring payment

What your bank can stop depends on how the merchant takes the money.

  • A recurring card payment is charged to your debit or credit card number. Most banks won't cancel one for you.
  • A direct debit comes out of your BSB and account number. Moneysmart says your bank has to stop the payments once you ask. Your contract with the merchant stays in place.
  • A PayTo agreement is the newer replacement for a direct debit. It sits in your banking app, where you can pause or cancel it.

Westpac

Westpac says it uses "a learning model to find recurring payments on your debit or credit card", and its app cancels eligible subscriptions without you contacting the merchant. Westpac's help page gives three ways in:

  1. Go to your debit or credit card transaction list. If you see Cancel subscription, select Manage and follow the prompts.
  2. Type the merchant (for example Netflix) into the Search bar, select a transaction and scroll down.
  3. In Search, select the Transactions tab and add filters, then select a transaction and scroll down.

Cancellation usually takes 1 to 5 business days, and Westpac warns that a payment due before it's confirmed may still be charged. The app can't cancel subscriptions billed through a third party such as PayPal or Apple Pay, insurance, health and government services, fixed-term contracts, or merchants Westpac doesn't work with. On a credit card, only the primary cardholder can cancel.

Savings Finder is a second list covering regular bills and subscriptions, utilities and government services included: search Savings Finder in the Smart Search bar on the home screen. To stop a direct debit, search "Cancel or dispute direct debit" in the app. PayTo agreements are under Profile, Payments, Payment agreements, PayTo agreements.

Bankwest

Bankwest launched Subscriptions Manager in its app in February 2026. It shows how many subscriptions you have, their monthly cost and yearly spend, when each is next due, which account it comes out of and an estimated amount. Bankwest says it covers subscriptions "setup from a Bankwest account". Cancelling happens on the merchant's site: in May 2026, Bankwest says, 3,892 customers clicked Cancel Subscription and were "directed to merchant sites to complete their chosen action".

Bankwest's help pages give no menu path for Subscriptions Manager; its app page lists the feature. Message Bankwest in the app and it will send a list of direct debits and recurring payments on your accounts from up to the previous 13 months. PayTo agreements are under Money, Payments, PayTo agreements.

NAB

NAB's Upcoming predicts bills and subscriptions due in the next 30 days from payments on your personal accounts. After three regular payments to the same merchant, it estimates the next amount and date. It picks up merchant types including digital subscriptions, gyms, telcos, utilities and insurance; you add others with Track bill. In the NAB app, scroll to Upcoming on the Home screen and tap View all.

Upcoming only predicts. NAB says it can't cancel recurring card payments. It cancels direct debits through an online Direct Debit Cancellation Request, by phone or in a branch. To cancel a PayTo agreement, tap More (Menu on Android), Payments, PayTo Agreements, choose the agreement and tap Cancel PayTo Agreement.

CommBank

CommBank has no subscriptions screen. Insights shows predicted bills, and CommBank says it's "being made available to customers gradually". For a CommBank credit card, go to Cards, swipe to the card, tap Settings (the yellow cog), then Regular payments. For debit cards and transaction accounts, CommBank sends a printed list if you contact it or visit a branch, and says the list "may not be complete".

To stop a direct debit, tap the help icon at the top right of the app and message Ceba, CommBank's virtual assistant. For a recurring card payment, CommBank sends you to the merchant. PayTo agreements can be paused, resumed or cancelled in the app.

ANZ

The ANZ App lists 13 months of payments to merchants that have your eligible Visa card or account details saved: streaming fees and similar ongoing payments, direct debits and some one-off purchases. On the Accounts screen, tap More, then Ongoing and One-off Payments.

The list leaves out ongoing payments that haven't charged yet, BPAY and other payments set up in Internet Banking, in-store transactions and periodical payments. It doesn't cancel anything. PayTo agreements are under More, PayTo agreements. ANZ Plus, ANZ's separate app, cancels direct debits by message and sends you to the merchant for recurring card payments.

St.George

The St.George app lists direct debits and recurring card payments on your credit and debit accounts from the previous 13 months: tap Services, then View Direct Debits under My Payments, then choose an account. St.George says the list covers only payments "known to us from the information we receive about your transactions", and that it can't stop a recurring card payment for you. We checked St.George's pages only; Bank of Melbourne and BankSA have their own.

Up

Up's Upcoming screen tracks regular bills, payments and subscriptions, predicts when they're due, and reminds you if your balance is running low. Up describes it as "detecting patterns in past spending to predict future charges", and you can add regular expenses yourself. Essentials, free to all Up customers since September 2026, sets money aside for bills you add as Regulars and gives them their own card and account number. The Up pages we checked describe no in-app way to cancel a recurring card payment.

ING

ING's help pages cover scheduled payments and PayTo but describe no screen that finds your subscriptions. You view, manage or cancel PayTo agreements in ING online banking. After a card replacement, ING will stop a merchant charging your new card if you ask.

Macquarie

Macquarie's help pages describe no subscription list. You cancel a direct debit through live chat. For a recurring card payment you contact the merchant, and if the merchant ignores you, Macquarie disputes the transactions once you send it the correspondence. PayTo agreements are under the Pay icon, then Payment Agreements.

What no bank app shows you

A bank app sees only that bank's accounts. If Netflix is on your CommBank card, the gym takes a direct debit from ANZ and an old trial bills a Westpac credit card, no single app shows all three. The apps also stop at payment processors: an apple.com/bill charge, Apple says, "could be for apps, subscriptions, music and film purchases, or more", and PayPal charges carry PayPal's name instead of the merchant's.

SubTracker reads a PDF, CSV or Excel statement export from any Australian bank, with no bank login, and lists the recurring charges on it, usually in about a minute. Upload a statement from each bank to see them together. You can run a free scan without an account. A free account shows your first three subscriptions; $29 once unlocks the rest and emails you three days before each charge. SubTracker isn't live and sees only the statements you upload.

If nearly everything runs through Westpac or Bankwest, that bank's app does the job for free. For free apps that link several banks through open banking, see the best subscription trackers in Australia.

Common questions

What's the best bank for tracking subscriptions?

Westpac, if you want the bank to cancel for you. Bankwest gives the clearest list, with costs and due dates, but you cancel on the merchant's site. NAB, CommBank and Up predict upcoming bills without a subscriptions list.

Does CommBank show my subscriptions?

Partly. Insights predicts upcoming bills, and a CommBank credit card lists regular payments under Cards, Settings, Regular payments. Debit card subscriptions have no list in the app.

Can my bank cancel a subscription for me?

Westpac cancels eligible subscriptions in its app. The other banks here send you to the merchant for recurring card payments. Your bank has to stop a direct debit when you ask, and most let you cancel a PayTo agreement yourself. Stopping a payment doesn't end your contract with the merchant.

Your bank app sees one bank. Upload a statement from each and see every recurring charge, first scan free.

Upload a bank statement to find recurring charges, review your subscriptions and track renewals. No bank login required. Your first scan is free and needs no account. The full tracker is $29 AUD once.
